Enjoy a dose of energy and fitness through my eyes…and learn to love your body no matter its flaws…we are all work in progress…

So I found out at a very early age that speed was never my strong suit! It took a failed Sprint competition in my formative years in which I was declared first from the bottom to solidify in my mind that me and speed had nothing in common. However what I lack in speed, I make up for in endurance and strength! Endurance – because I started exercising during my primary years, when I religiously used to follow my mother’s Jane Fonda workout VHS cassette and this was years ago…if that does not spell endurance, then I don’t know what does! Working out for this long, unfortunately my body is not where I would love it to be, but I would like to believe that at least I did get some strength out of this craziness lol!

Anyway, the long and short of it is that I do like to exercise and I have cultivated the habit over years, however I am still work in progress! Two words…Angela Bassett – my ultimate body goal. I would admit, this goal has been a bit elusive – my thunder thighs just would not let me be great – getting in the way of my body goals and as if that’s not enough, it has decided to recruit my lower belly in the rebellion! No worries… its my body and I’m still learning to love it!

But more importantly I do work out for other reasons too, so if I cannot channel Angela….just yet….I still have a number of other reasons to press on

·  Working out is a perfect stress reliever for me

·  It allows me to drink more water

·  It gives me extra energy

·  It allows me to challenge myself

·  It helps me to build strength and endurance

·  It acts as a supplement to my diet

Working out is a great family activity and I try my best to involve my family in my workout routine…yes…amidst their kicking and screaming! lol

Here’s my philosophy…working out should not feel like a chore, in the beginning it may be daunting to the mind but I believe in baby steps…go at your pace, at your level! And surround yourself with items and people who will motivate you! I for instance get my best workout session with great music! Unfortunately, music is a deal breaker for me…I need my music to engage!

So this page is to document some of my fitness regimes and throw in some inspirational gems because trust me at 40-ish, lying in the couch with a glass of wine watching an intense romcom, trumps 15 reps of burpees – we need all the inspiration we can get! lol!

So feel free to try some of the routines, or gawk with disgust…no pressure! To make it even more interesting, occasionally I will feature other fabulous ladies who are also getting their fit on – its a revolution y’all, so join in!
